Billie Charity

FESTIVAL SPEAKER

Billie Charity is a portrait and reportage photographer.  Her work has been exhibited widely throughout Wales and in London, and has regularly featured in the press.  She also has several published photo books - the most recent QUEEN FROM NO SCENE, published by Graffeg.

The book tells the story of a local farmer who is also a drag queen.  Billie spent two years following around and photographing Dean/Boo La Croux.

Billie is the official portrait photographer for HAY FESTIVAL, and she has given various talks at the festival on photography.  Other clients include The Big Lottery Fund, National Theatre Wales, and The National Trust.

"My photography centres on people. Whether in a formal setting or a candid ‘street’ style, capturing the individual characters I encounter is what drives my passion to take photos. I love travelling and taking street photos, but I also love finding the beauty on my doorstep."

Billie takes commissions for portraits, events, and editorial. She also runs portrait and street photography workshops and mentors teens and young adults.
